Tldr: A straw bag is the most functional, timeless, outfit-completing item in my closet. As I search for my new daily driver, I’m sharing the best ones I find on the internet.
When I moved to LA ten years ago, I made what was perhaps the smartest and most fruitful fashion purchase in my life: the smallest straw tote I’d ever seen for around $30.

I started wearing it pretty much daily. I didn’t intend to or anticipate it getting so much wear, but it looked good with literally anything. Not only that, but it actually made my outfits feel complete.
I dress simply and without non-functional layering or accessories. I like classic, timeless clothing that fits well. And a bit of texture adds a lot.
Actually, as I write this, I’m wondering if
’s wrong shoe theory translates here in the form of the wrong bag. A straw bag isn’t the anticipated choice in any of the outfits below. It’s surprising and adds interest - it clashes in a good way.Anyway, I bought this bag to replace my mini tote and wore it every day for the past few years. It looks almost exactly like the one Camille Rowe has on below.
It’s on its last leg, and I’m ready for something new, so I’ve begun scouring the internet for my next daily driver.
Of course, as soon as I start googling and perusing, I find the need to do an exhaustive search. Truth be told, I’ll probably wind up with more than one, especially as my nomadic traveling days have come to an end.

Presenting the fruits of my internet sleuthing: straw bag edition.
