A Tumblr-esque round up of unexpected art pieces, sparkly shoes, the art of line drying, and a story about the new Creative Director at Celine thrown in

Vanessa wearing Posse, a straw bag, tortoise headband, and white heels - not sure which ones she’s wearing but I love these
TyLynn shared this perfume and said it smells amazing. I’m intrigued to try it. Also love the bottle, which for me is an important part of the selection process.
A pair of gingham sofas and a mass of wild flowers in an antique jug at Stissing House - Clare de Boer’s restaurant in New York. Her Substack is one of my favorites. Start with her green beans like spaghetti.
A dinner platter at Stissing House. Love the silver platter and plating for an entertaining idea. Pickled veggies, meat, cheese, and a condiment.
This is the latest from my Pinterest board where I save ideas for entertaining and daily meals. When I don’t know what to make, I browse through and always see something I can pull together for whatever occasion it is. More often than not, I just wing it without a recipe. I guess it’s my version of a cookbook.
One of the chicest women ever - making me reconsider my aversion to an elastic waist band. Does anyone know who this is?
I screen shotted this for the interiors. Obsessed with the dark (painted?) wicker furniture with green upholstery.
I love the color, shape, and thickness of this book shelf and the kitchenware displayed like art on top.
Inspo for landscaping our new yard which is currently all gravel. I’d love a pathway leading out the kitchen door flanked by tall flowers.
I’m imagining a view like this out my kitchen
More inspo for the path from the kitchen. I like when design elements are repeated. These four little terra cotta planters with the same boxwood (?) are so charming to me. Also like the stone border along the path. Adds a bit more interest and seems like it would be an easy, affordable DIY. Source
An idea for a very plain gravel yard that needs some personality - and color :)
This is Stissing House again - I like the brick path laid in a wavy, imperfect pattern. And the green door. And the wild, free looking plants
A beautiful table - the table cloth and pots/plants are so chic. Indoor or outside would be perfect.
I want to dress like this. I’ve been searching for old school chinos for a long time. The particular way the sleeves are folded, the length of her necklace, and the refined watch make the white oxford and khakis something special.
The World Of Interiors May 2025. When I see a room I love, I’m challenging myself to describe why so I can figure out how to translate my references into my actual home. I think what I’m drawn to here is the color palette. There are at least three different shades of green in unexpected tones that I’d never think to put together. So chic. Btw, I just subscribed to the World of Interiors. It is such a treat to get a beautiful magazine once a month and sit down to flip through it.
I like the idea of placing bookcases in the niches on either side of a fireplace as an alternative to a built in bookcase. I’m still looking at tons of interiors inspiration for our new place, and have figured out that I want books everywhere (with the bindings visible oy, must be functional). Ryan and I both read a lot (new, more consistent habit for me the last six months) and have quite a collection going. Currently on my nightstand.
Carolina Irving shared this image of a brass sconce. Well part of it haha. I’m in love with it even though I can’t see the whole thing. Looks like it isn’t available online but some other gorgeous candle lighting from the same shop here.
Paloma is one of my top style inspirations. Most of the people who inspire me have very different aesthetics, but often gravitate to similar pieces. I bought an extra wide cotton headband ages ago - this makes me want to wear it. I like how her look is tonal (all black) with a pop of red and white. Her dark hair is part of that palette. This outfit would look very different on someone blonde. I really believe in starting with your hair - everything else follows.
Purple and red. I’d never think to pair them together, or even to choose purple.
I keep coming back to Michael Rider’s debut collection for Celine. The colors and styling are so inspiring while being equally practical and accessible. These look like clothes for real life.
Michael and I were in the same year at Parsons. Back then, he carried a Balenciaga Le City bag, wore perfect (extremely worn, oversized) vintage Levi’s (he’d switch to cut-offs in warm weather), and had long fabulous hair that he’d often wear in a bun. From a distance, he could be mistaken for Mary Kate Olsen (he is petite).
We started the Fashion BFA program the same year and had most of our classes together. He was the nicest, most genuine person, and his illustrations were unbelievable. When I saw Karl Lagerfeld sketching in a documentary at one point, it reminded me of Michael. Idea after brilliant idea, effortlessly spun out in seconds, each a literal work of art.
His Celine collection reminds me of things he was sketching in class in his early twenties. The colors. The styling. The vibe. He arrived at school ready to work with someone like Pheobe Philo - whose team he joined at Celine soon thereafter.
At Parsons, we had to come up with a concept and sketch a full ready to wear collection almost every week. I’m not really wired for that. I’m more of a one-and-done designer, refining a single, timeless product. So I was a fish out of water trying not only to come up with far more ideas than came naturally to me, but also having to draw them - a skill I tried and failed to cultivate.
One week, I presented a collection of cashmere sweaters paired with cigarette trousers and flats made in the same patterned fabric. Sort of a retro, head-to-toe look. I actually still like the idea, but I didn’t have the skill to render it. My illustrations completely failed to communicate what I had in mind.
And yet, somehow, in the critique, Michael saw what I was going for and spoke about my collection in a way that helped everyone in the room see it too. He was always generous. He got me my first internship. And I’m sure many of our classmates would say he helped and encouraged them similarly.
I can only imagine most people in his shoes would have been bored and frustrated, but he was lovely and engaging and made the best of the situation. Parsons should have been paying him to teach the class, not take it.
Anyway, it’s so fun to see what he’s doing at Celine. These pictures make me feel excited to get dressed.
Such a high rise, but looks understated and not overly vintage. The rings. The vertical oval belt buckle. The exaggerated shirt cuffs poking out. And the sunglasses feel very fresh. Also, I love when runway collections have realistic hair. I love the low pony with the slightly off center part and messy whisps.
The hair. The glasses. The fuzzy coat with crisp white collar and cuffs. The high waisted trousers with lots of volume that are ankle length. And these loafers. They look like Belgian loafers. Cream with the white sock. I don’t know if I’m cool enough to try this, but I love it. And a straw tote. This is my fave look.
Cream, white, black, denim, chestnut brown. I want these jeans.
You can see the full collection here. The mens looks are really good too.
This is a room by Stephen Stills. I think it might actually be his own home. I’ve had this reference saved for many years and always go back to it. I love the way the mantel is styled with a plant, a framed art work, and the yellow art work. I might make some art for our home, and if I do this is top of the inspo pile.
I’m personally not in the market for a Turrel (lol) but it feels somehow in the same vein as the graphic, simple piece I shared above. Source
Ceramics and other household items displayed as art (and ideally also used) I think is so chic.
Milton Avery - dream art to hang in my home
A beautiful room Kathryn Ireland designed a very long time ago that, to me, feels timeless. I love the wicker chairs and the chandelier.
A pull out drying rack. This one I think is custom, but it could be DIY’ed. since being in Ireland and knowing that the majority of my laundry will air dry (the influence of Europe!), I am going to set up a designated laundry drying place in our house. We’ll have a line in the yard, but weather will often veto that option. having drying racks sitting haphazardly on the floor is unattractive and feels chaotic to me - like it’s mess that doesn’t belong there. So a good system for drying clothes, while niche and maybe odd, is very important to me :)
When I was in Edinburgh last year, I stayed in a chic apartment that had a drying rack installed on the kitchen ceiling. Since the ceilings were so high, it was very much out of sight. But it was beautifully made like this one from deVol, which looks nice in a room with a lower ceiling. I just have to be realistic that mine won’t be artfully adorned with three antique linens - it’ll be covered in clothes in random colors that do not add to the ambience of the room lol.
Here’s one in a laundry room. come to think of it, we will need much more drying capacity than this, so I may need to rethink possible locations.
When they aren’t in use, you tie it up high and it’s out of sight.
Taken aback by the last screenshot. Lovely.
I'm browsing for wedding guest dresses and loved this one with that purple/red combo. Princess Di may have done this first.

I'm enjoying reviewing your posts for more inspo! :) Do you think wearing black to a wedding is a faux-pas? Love the J Crew dress you pinned!
